Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that defeating Liverpool, one of Europe’s top clubs, will necessitate doing everything possible.
After both clubs triumphed in the UEFA Champions League midweek, the Red Devils will play the Reds at Old Trafford on Sunday. United won 3-2 over Atalanta, while Liverpool won 3-2 against Atletico Madrid in Spain.
Ole was asked about the massive task of defeating Liverpool during a press conference on Friday ahead of the Premier League clash.
“It’s going to take everything to beat the best teams in Europe and the world and Liverpool are one of them at the moment,” the Norwegian said.
“They’re one of the teams we’re chasing and we’re trying to chase. What they’ve done in the last four years is something that we’re striving towards, and [we want to] go past them.
“We ended ahead of them last season, they had a large spell of injuries, so now they’re back to their best,” he added.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer will be without Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane, while Harry Maguire, Edinson Cavani and Fred return.
