Chelsea travels to Malmo in the Champions League on Tuesday at 5.45 p.m., hoping to keep the pressure on group leaders Juventus.

Holders Chelsea will be faceing Malmo in Champions League Group H on Tuesday, a fortnight after their one-sided clash in London.

The two teams meet at the Eleda Stadion, with the European champions second in the group behind Juventus, and their hosts last, with no goals or points.

Team News

Thomas Tuchel will be without a number of key players for Chelsea’s match against Malmo, but he will also have to consider Saturday’s game against Burnley when putting up his team.

Mason Mount, Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, and Mateo Kovacic are all out of the Champions League match against Sweden.

Tuchel has the opportunity to deploy his roster and keep players fresh for Burnley in a game that Chelsea is expected to win.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek could replace Kovacic, with Trevoh Chalobah a backup option if he wants to rest one or both of Thiago Silva and Toni Rudiger.

Christian Pulisic could make his season debut for the first time since the first game of the season, but it remains to be seen whether Tuchel would thrust the USA international right into a depleted assault.

At centre forward, Kai Havertz is the main option, while Callum Hudson-Odoi will continue his good form on the right.

Malmo was not expected to raise much of a stir in Group H of the Champions League, and that is exactly what has happened so far at the halfway point of the first round. Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side has lost all three of its matches this season without much of a fight, with the Swedish outfit having the lowest predicted goals total (0.99) among all teams in the Champions League this season, while being one of just three teams yet to score.

Meanwhile, Malmo will be missing veteran forward Ola Toivonen and Danish defender Jonas Knudsen due to long-term knee problems, although Niklas Moisander has recently returned to action and might start in a back three for the hosts.

Captain Anders Christiansen is the major creative force in midfield, and he starts with Croatian attacker Antonio Colak, who was among the top scorers in qualifying but has yet to score in Group H.

Martin Olsson, a former Premier League player, should start at left wing-back, with either Eric Larsson or Jo Inge Berget set to play on the other side – both wide men will be required to track back and form a defensive five at times.
