Kevin De Bruyne tests positive for COVID-19

Kevin De Bruyne has tested positive for Covid-19 and is self-isolating, according to Pep Guardiola.

The 30-year-old playmaker has been abroad with his country on World Cup qualification duties, assisting Roberto Martinez’s team in securing a place in Qatar 2022.

He is, however, going to take yet another forced vacation at club level, with Pep Guardiola also waiting to see if Jack Grealish and Phil Foden will be fit to play Everton on Sunday after their respective England performances.

This means he will miss man City’s match against Everton on Sunday, as well as the Champions League match against PSG on Wednesday and the league match against West Ham at home the following weekend.

“Kevin has tested positive for Covid so he must isolate for 10 days,” said Guardiola.

“Now he has to recover well. The human being is more important than anything else. He was vaccinated, so he is more protected, so hopefully, the symptoms are minimized.”

“Right now it’s not about the rhythm or who we are going to miss, it’s about the human being.”

Following that, City will face another difficult test when West Ham visit Manchester on November 28 to complete a hat-trick of home games.

De Bruyne will be frustrated to be forced to miss further vital games after already missing four games for City this season due to an ankle injury.
