Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Leicester City, is expected to be named Manchester United’s next head coach, according to reports.
In the aftermath of Manchester City‘s derby defeat, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has kept his job, and he is anticipated to lead the team against Watford next weekend in the Premier League.

However, Rodgers’ long-term future at the club is unclear, and a recent rumour suggested that he had already verbally accepted to become Manchester United’s next manager.

The Daily Star reports that the 20-time English champions are growing more optimistic in their ability to appoint the 48-year-old as their new head coach.

According to the article, Rodgers would find it ‘very impossible’ to turn down the opportunity to join United, as his contract includes a release clause that may be activated if a Champions League club approaches him.

The Northern Irishman began his his career with Chelsea’s youth team before going on to coach Watford, Reading, Swansea City, Liverpool, and Celtic before joining Leicester.
