Manchester United Possible line up against Manchester City Saturday derby

Manchester United has suffered a big defensive setback ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Manchester City.

Raphael Varane suffered a hamstring injury during the Red Devils’ Champions League tie with Atalanta BC on Tuesday, and the centre-back has been ruled out for the next month.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also without the suspended Paul Pogba, while Victor Lindelof is a slight doubt with an injury but is expected to make the squad this weekend.

With Lindelof’s return to fitness, the Red Devils will be able to field a back three once more, with Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly, who both performed admirably in midweek, given starts.

Given his lackluster performance in midweek, Pogba may not have been in contention to start here in the first place, with Fred and Scott McTominay expected to form the midfield combination at Old Trafford.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw are expected to remain in the wing-back positions, unless the latter is called upon to pitch in as an emergency center-back if Lindelof does not make the cut.

Marcus Rashford should be dropped to make room for Edinson Cavani’s comeback.

Man United possible starting lineup: De Gea; Bailly, Lindelof, Maguire; Wan-Bissaka, McTominay, Fred, Shaw; Fernandes; Ronaldo, Cavani
