Two men assaulted France international Hamraoui last Thursday, and PSG revealed Diallo had been detained by police in Versailles for questioning in connection with the incident.

Diallo and Hamraoui, both midfielders, are vying for a spot on the French national team and at PSG.

Diallo joined PSG in 2016, but she has previously spent time on loan with the Utah Royals and Atletico Madrid. She made her France debut in 2017 and has since received seven caps, scoring one goal.

Hamraoui, on the other hand, joined the French squad in the summer after winning the Women’s Champions League with Barcelona the previous year. She has appeared in 36 games for Les Bleues.

According to the French publication L’Equipe, two masked men seized Hamraoui from a car and attacked her with iron rods. Both guys escaped following the incident, which lasted barely a few minutes, and one of the males is claimed to have repeatedly hit Hamraoui in the legs.

“Paris Saint-Germain takes note of the police custody this morning of Aminata Diallo by the Versailles SRPJ as part of the procedure opened following an assault on Thursday last night against club players,” PSG said in a statement.

“Paris Saint-Germain strongly condemns the violence committed. Since Thursday evening November 4, the club has taken all the necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being, and safety of its players.

“Paris Saint-Germain is working with the Versailles SRPJ to shed light on the facts. The club is attentive to the progress of the procedure and will study the follow-up to be given to it.”

Due to the incident, Hamraoui was unable to play in PSG’s Women’s Champions League match against Real Madrid on Tuesday, which would have been her 100th appearance for the club.
