Despite that the league is known for its steely defense tradition, it never failed to produce a deadly attacker that was able to score an unreasonable number of goals

Surely, all of the top European leagues have a well-documented history of great goals scorers therefore, the Italian league being one of the top five European leagues is not an exemption.

The mix of homegrown stars like Del Piero and Totti and imported goal machines like Nordahl; are all phenomenal during their time in the league.

Silvio Piola – 274 Goals

Club: Pro Vercelli, Lazio, Juventus and Novara

Italian legendary forward, Silvio Piola is generally regarded as one of the finest striker of his time.

He played an important role in the Italian team t when they won the FIFA world cup in 1938 where he notched in two goals in the final.

Silvio during his career in the league scored 274 goals in 537 Italian Seri A matches in his club career between 1929 and 1954.

His average per goal is 0.51 and also holds the first place in the list of top 10 all time top scorers of Serie A

Franscesco Totti – 250 Goals

Club: AS Roma

Francesco Totti who retired from football activities recently came second in the list.

The AS Roma legend during his time won Italian footballer of the year titles five times and emerge as Serie A footballer of year titles twice.
The Italian superstar score 250 goals in 619 appearance which he played between 1992 to 2017

Gunnar Nordahl – 225 Goals

Club: AC Milan and AS Roma

Swedish international Gunnar Nordahl is one of the Swedish finest football players. He won Italian tittles and five top score awards in his club career.

Nordahl racked up 225 goals in 291 appearances in the Italian league where he played between 1948 to 1958..

He scored 210 goals in 257 matches while playing for ac Milan between 1949 and 1956 and then joined Roma where scored an additional 15 goals in 34 matches from 1956 to 1958.

Giuseppe Meazza – 216 Goals

Clubs: Inter Milan, Ac Milan and Juventus
Guiseppe Meazza is an Italian legend who captained Italy to win the FIFA world cup twice consecutively in 1934 and 1938 respectively.

Meazza scored 216 goals in 367 Serie A matches in his career between 1929 and 1947.

While playing for Inter, Guiseppe Meaza scored 241 goals in 348 appearances. He further scored 9 in 37 matches for AC Milan from 1940 to 1942.

Jose Altafini – 216 Goals

Club: AC Milan, Napoli and Juventus.

Jose Altafini is a Brazillian-Italian footballer that has the most goal in a single European cup which was later overtaken by Lionel Messi after 50 years.

Altafini notched 216 goals in 459 appearances in Serie A he played between 1958 and 1976.

Altafini scored 120 goals in 205 appearances during his spell at AC Milan and another 71 in 180 matches for Napoli from 1965 to 1972

Antonio Di Natale – 209 Goals

Club” Empoli and Udinese

Recently retired football attacker was a top-notch goals scorer during his time of play.

He emerged as Serie A top scorer twice consecutively for 2009 – 2010 and 2010 – 2011 season.

From 2002 to 2016, Antonio scored 209 goals in 445 Serie A appearances.

In 158 matches, Antonio Di Natale scored 49 goals for Empoli between 1996 and 2004. He further joined Udinese and scored 185 in 350 matches.

Roberto Baggio – 205 Goals

Roberto Baggio is a Ballon dor and Fifa player of the year winner in 1993.
Baggio scored 205 goals in 452 Serie A appearances which he played between 1985 to 2004.

He scored 78 goals in 141 matches for Juventus and additional 12 in 51 matches while playing for AC Milan.

Kurt Hamrin – 190 Goals

Club: Juventus, Padova, Fiorentina, AC Milan and Napoli

Kurt Hamrin is a Swedish retired footballer who has earned his place among elite players with his incredible and terrifying dribbling skills with his both feet.

Hamrin scored 190 goals in 400 Italian Serie A matches between 1956 to 1971.

Hamrin scored 150 goals in 289 matches during his time of play at Fiorentina between 1958 and 1967.

He further scored an additional 9 goals in 36 matches when he joined ac Milan between 1967 to 1969

Guiseppe Signori – 188 Goals

Club: Foggia, Lazio, Sampdoria, and Bologna

Guiseppe Signori is an Italian player who featured with Italy at the 1994 FIFA world cup tournament.

In the Italian league, Signori scored 188 times in 344 appearances from 1991 to 2004.

With Lazio, signori notched in 117 times in 152 matches. Upon his arrival at Bologna, he scored another 70 goals in 142 matches

Alessandro Del Piero – 188 Goals

Club: Juventus

Italian and Juventus superstar, Alessandro Del Piero ended his career with an Indian club, Delhi Dynamos FC.

Although, Del Pierro played the majority of his career at Juventus where he scored 188 goals in 478 appearances from 1993 to 2012.
