The UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year award final three nominees has been announced and they are, Pep Guardiola, Thomas Tuchel, and Roberto Mancini.

The winner, along with the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year and the UEFA Champions League positional award winners, will be announced at the UEFA Champions League draw for the 2021/22 season on Thursday, August 26 in Istanbul.

How were the Coaches Chosen ?

Coaches in Europe, regardless of nationality, were judged for this award based on their overall season performance in all competitions – both domestically and internationally – at either club or national team level.

The Jury members that made the selection were made up of :

24 coaches from teams who competed in UEFA EURO 2020 this summer;

80 coaches from clubs that competed in the group stages of the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League (32) and UEFA Europa League (32). (48)

The European Sports Media (ESM) group chose 55 journalists, one from each of UEFA’s member associations.

The jury members selected their best three coaches, with the first receiving five points, the second three, and the third one receiving one point. The coaches were not permitted to vote for themselves.

The three Coaches who were voted most after the conclusion of the voting are Pep Guardiola, Thomas Tuchel, and Roberto Mancini.

UEFA Men’s Coach of the Year Final 3 nominees

Manchester City reached their first Champions League final under Pep Guardiola, but lost 1-0 to Chelsea in Porto.

City also won the League Cup and the Premier League, finishing 12 points ahead of Manchester United in second place.

Tuchel took over as Chelsea manager in the middle of the 2020/21 season, replacing club legend Frank Lampard.

He guided Chelsea to their second Champions League title and helped them finish fourth in the Premier League.
After taking Paris Saint-Germain to the final in 2020, the German became the first coach to reach consecutive finals with different clubs.
Finally, as manager of the Italian national team, Mancini won Euro 2020.

The victory in the final against England was their 34th in a row without a loss.

Italy failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia, but the former Manchester City manager revitalized the Azzurri to become European champions.
